📚 Finished reading: Probably Ruby by Lisa Bird-Wilson

Wow, Ruby is a great character. And I love that we got to know her through relationships (each one a chapter).

Kindness, bred from compassion. Please, more of this.

Today in Tabs' “What Are You Willing To Do?". Poignant.

Really appreciate this episode of Death, Sex & Money, especially today. Especially now.

📺 Watched: Station Eleven (2022)

Very intentionally, I waited a little while between finishing the book and starting this series. I’m glad I did. I enjoyed this, the performances and the production of it. And I was overall okay with how it separated itself from the book.

Had a great morning outing in San Francisco visiting The Art of The Brick Exhibit. Fascinating considering the creativity, time, money, and patience it took the artist to create all of the sculptures. Impressive!

a yellow sculpture of a human male, made out of Lego bricks, sitting on a wooden bench. On the wall behind it is a banner for “Art of the Brick San Fancisco”.

Really enjoyed Bevy Smith’s TED Talk. Watching it now has a unique juxtaposition with a lot of people and things happening in my circles.

🎵Love this episode of Song Exploder where I got to learn the backstory behind one of my favorite songs, “This Is a Photograph” by Kevin Morby.

📺 Watched: Our Flag Means Death (2022)

Fun casting and overall funny. Some really campy/corny moments but overall entertaining.

Watched Take Out with Lisa Ling, s1 (2022) 📺

So many Asian American stories to tell, so little time. I loved each episode for the people they highlighted, the guests that appeared, and the stories told. Looking forward to another season soon.

As close to a silhouette as I have in my digital library. Most of my silhouettes are on film/prints that have not yet been scanned. Another in the long list of to-dos. 📷

Watched Pachinko (2022) 📺

The character and story changes, and jumping around the timeline, threw me off. To be expected with a book adaptation of course. I loved this series but not as much as I loved the book.

The more I plant, the happier I become knowing that I’m learning to take better care of our Earth. 📸

Watched: Snake Eyes (2021) 🎥

I liked the cast, the look (cinematography) and a few other things. But story was a half-assed version of every cliché from every “origin story”. Disappointing and boring.

This collab between Fishwife and FlyByJing was really really good. Might have to order some more…

Finished reading: Already Enough by Lisa Olivera 📚

The author hones in on the concept of “enough” as it applies to ourself, our actual being. She illustrates, quite well, how the stories we tell about ourselves directly affect our feeling of whether we are, indeed, enough.

I had to do a little cleanup on the front yard roses this morning, which works out quite nicely for today’s photo theme of thorny. 📷

Finished reading: Troublemaker by John Cho 📚

Loved this vignette of a story that took place just as the LA Riots began. Though written for young adults, I easily related as I was just around the same age as the protagonist during that time in our history.

Just attended BizX 2022 and really enjoyed the presenter talks. It’s great to learn about local people doing really great things.

In awe of Jazzmeia Horn’s performance, here for KEXP. Such an amazing talent. 🎵

Watched: Kung Fu Yoga (2017) 🎥

A classic, fun Jackie Chan movie full of laughs and action. Favorite part: car chase with the lion. Runner up, dance at the end.

Committed to investing in more photo books and zines, including making my own. 📸

Warmer and lighter, later. Time switch Sunday dinners to outdoor grilling. 📸

Overall a really easy day with short work “sprints” scattered throughout. Ended on a high note, solving a tech issue for a colleague right before quitting time. Yay weekend!
